This week has been incredibly busy. As well as starting a new business with all that that entails, we are starting to look for a new house. It’s very exciting and seems like the beginning of a new chapter in all our lives.
Change is something that I have had to learn to get used to over the years. It’s not something that I used to enjoy. In fact it made me feel quite uncomfortable. Change often involves the ending of something and so can evoke strong feelings of discomfort and possibly bring up old feelings of loss. Alternatively the pain or discomfort can be a result of our being stretched out of our comfort zone, a space within ourselves which we build to keep us safe and secure.
On many occasions I would find myself trying to hold onto what I knew, the status quo, onto the secure knowledge that everything would stay the same.
The strong feelings of resistance to change can be caused by our past conditioning and wounding we experienced when younger and this can have an extremely powerful and disabling effect on us many years later, influencing all our experiences and decisions.
At the root of this is FEAR.
It has the effect of keeping us in exactly the same place. the place where we feel comfortable. The dreaded COMFORT ZONE!
Growth does not happen when we live in the comfort zone. In fact quite the opposite …fear keeps us caged within our own self imposed limiting beliefs which keep on giving us the same results in ALL areas of our lives, ALL the time. We become stagnant. Our hopes and dreams gradually are stifled off. It kills any desire to fulfill our potential.
So with this new chapter in my life beginning to unfold and the changes manifesting everyday, I am staying awake and aware to what it might still bring up for me. I am alert to the unhealed parts of me that might come up to the surface or perhaps past conditioning that colours my decisions.
If i’m not aware of this coming up then inevitably I will be taken off course and stray from what would have been a more authentic path for me.
If I can remain completely conscious and present in the moment then whenever I ‘react’ as a result of getting caught up in past ‘stuff’ or conditioning then I have the opportunity to process that and let it go. In it’s place I can choose a more empowering self belief or habit.
How can I become more comfortable with change?
This is easy!
Make a decision.
This could be the most important decision you will ever make in your life!
This one step has completely transformed my life…
And it could change yours too…right now!
Decide right now that you are someone who wants to…
GROW
If a plant is not growing it is dying.
And the same goes for us as living organisms and for our self development. It simply is not possible to be both in our comfort zone (=NON GROWTH) AND grow. It just isn’t possible folks. And I really want you to hear that today my friends.
I highly recommend you go and listen to the renowned biologist Bruce Lipton when you have a moment. In his talks he explains that as humans we are in a state of either death or growth. You cannot be in both! You are either in one OR the other.
So what decides which state you are in?
It is you my friend. It is you who decides every second whether you growing or dying. Through your own belief system by which you see and experience the world, you make decisions all the time. More often than not these are done unconsciously and based in fear, maintaining you in a state of non-growth (here read comfort zone!)
By deciding to live consciously, deciding to GROW & EXPAND, we choose to step out of and stretch out of our comfort zone and to let go of whatever is binding us to the past and revealing our true nature and right path.
FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY!
The key to this is practice.
Once you’ve made the decision to grow…then practising it is the key to success.
To be able to live consciously all the time, which is my aim, can be hugely challenging to say the least. That’s why I’ve found having a daily formal practice where I can try out different methods of becoming more aware, more conscious, more present & comfortable with change, can be very rewarding.
Tai Chi is one of the most rewarding ways to put all of these ideas into action. If you want to read more about this click here.
Tai Chi is not just an exercise but a transformational method of becoming more and more self aware, open, present and free to explore life with less and less resistance, more able to let go of what is not serving you, and embrace all change from a solid, centered and rooted place of inner peace and calm.
So with this in mind, as we start a new chapter on our journey together, me and Maria are going to tackle the loft! We are going to start to declutter!
My loft is packed tight with stuff! Boxes upon boxes are piled high with stuff. Stuff which has just been thrown up to be out of the way! To be dealt with later. Does that resonate? 🙂
I am going to venture up now and start sorting out what I can throw away so that we can continue on, light and free.

Thank you and see you next time
