It was whilst completing my training as a concert violinist many years ago that I came across this ancient healing art – Tai Chi Chuan. I had been suffering for many years from a painful inflammatory illness called ulcerative colitis. However after some months of practice I started to notice a change in my body. The severe symptoms that had plagued my whole life were beginning to ease. I decided to commit to a daily practice of tai chi and this had a huge effect on both my mind and body. After a while the symptoms disappeared altogether! It was truly astonishing. After seeing such dramatic changes to my own health as a result of practising Tai Chi & Qi Gong and teaching others through classes and workshops how they can transform their own lives, I would also love to share this with you.
I hope you find these healing arts useful

What is Tai Chi Chuan?Tai Chi relies on its effectiveness through internal power, the power cultivated by the alignment and co ordination of the whole body and mind. The slow movements of tai chi help to promote health by massaging your internal organs and building upon your internal Qi energy. Tai Chi Chuan is well known for its health benefits and has helped people recover from various illnesses for hundreds of years. Ultimately we all have our own path in life and the practice of Tai Chi Chuan can help us find this path and also give us the ability & health to travel it to its fullest. Tai Chi is recognised by the World Health Organisation as a fantastic source of healthy gentle exercise.
What is Qi Gong?Qi Gong is designed to conserve and build energy through postural exercises and slow, gentle movements. Qi Gong also involves using the mind to guide qi to parts of the body where it is most needed to strengthen and heal. Medical research has shown that Qi Gong may help to strengthen the immune system, benefits the endocrine system and improves heart function. If practised regularly Qi Gong’s gentle, smooth and flowing movements exercise the joints without stressing or damaging them as high impact sports tend to do, therefore keeping degenerative diseases of the joints at bay and restoring normal function to injured limbs & joints.
As your body and mind start to become more settled and balanced within, you will feel a wonderful calmness that stays with you throughout your day. It enables you to live in that calm state without getting caught up in the stress of modern life.
